  • The goal is to revitalize Liberty Street into a destination for businesses and residents alike. By improving accessibility and safety, we aim to create a more vibrant economic climate while creating an attractive, high-quality space that is welcoming to families and serves as a proud backdrop for our community’s most cherished events.

  • The project limits for the streetscape study are Liberty Street from Illinois Street to the Railroad tracks on the north.

  • The initial timeline for the project schedule is for the engagement and design phase to be completed by the fall of 2027 and for construction to begin in 2028. Multiple phases of construction may be undertaken depending on funding of the project.

  • Morris received a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunities that will go toward the project and a portion of the intersection improvements.  As the planning and design continue to move forward, the City and its consultants will be evaluating costs and looking at additional grant opportunities to pay for the additional portions of the ultimate design.
